The Copper Nail

It's our first ever Maker Monday post and we could not be more excited to feature Katie de Marzo. Katie is the artist behind The Copper Nail, a fiber studio based out of Claremont, California. She specializes in macrame designs that are unique and beautifully detailed.

While her fiber artistry started in recent years, Katie has always had the desire to create. In fact, her mom was an art teacher and grandparents were artists, so this skill clearly runs in the family! De Marzo stumbled into creating fiber pieces after trying it out with friends. From there, she was hooked. Now, she sells through retail partners (like us!), hosts workshops, and is working on opening her very own Etsy shop.

Katie works with 100% cotton rope to create her macrame marvels. Each and every piece is inventive and original, and there are a variety of size options and colors. Her favorite part of the creative process for The Copper Nail is getting to weave patterns to fit customers' homes and tastes.

Weave Away

If you are in the LA area, then be sure to sign up for one of Katie's workshops. She hosts occasional events to share her passion and techniques with others interested in learning her craft. You'll get to create your own woven hanging with hands-on guidance, snacks, and mimosas. What a fabulous idea for a girls night, birthday festivity, or simply a new activity to try!

"I’m always so thankful for people who follow my work and want to learn this newly revived art form from me."

We certainly love following along and hope for her continued success as a Maker! Check out her website (click here) and her Instagram feed (click here) to keep up with her journey as well.
