Style Your Bar Cart

It’s Thirsty Thursday so we’re tackling a favorite topic: bar carts! These wondrous pieces are not only functional, but they’re also a great way to add some sophistication to a space. Fun fact: bar carts have been used for over 150 years. They first served as tea trolleys during the Victorian Era, and later started housing liquors near the end of prohibition in the 1930s. Now, bar carts have become a staple in many homes, and we love the way each individual adds their own twist. While the finishing touches are up to you, here is our “recipe” for a chic bar cart.

Recipe

1 amazing bar cart

4+ bottles

6+ glasses

3 books

1 vase/planter

Accessories and art to your taste

Surprise, surprise: it all starts with the cart! We have a few unique pieces at Eclectic Goods, and find them to be oh-so-stylish. Check them out for yourself [here].

Whether you are a liquor or wine drinker, you can arrange a few (or a ton – whatever floats your ice) of your favorite bottles on the top shelf of your bar cart. If you are sticking to a few options, then display them on a tray to help it feel organized and intentional. Now that I have a bar cart at home, I gravitate towards bottles of liquor that not only taste great but look pretty too. Go figure!

To make it easy to sip your favorite drink, keep a few glasses displayed on your cart for quick access. Perhaps you go with some classic low ball glasses, or maybe you opt for some distinctive vintage wine goblets. Whatever your preference, this is your chance to highlight some cool glass or stemware you’ve found. I keep some marbled stemless wine glasses on hand and love how versatile they are.

Books are entirely optional, but I like having some recipe books to help take my bartending skills up a notch when hosting. It’s also a great way to add some height for decorative accents.

Plants bring life to any area of the home, so why not add a little greenery to your boozy display? Check out the inspiration pics to see what I mean – it definitely takes the whole look to a new level.

Last but certainly not least, accessories! Any objects or accents you add just help make the whole array “you.” Some ideas: a bowl or basket for citruses, bar tools, a cocktail shaker, an ice bucket, coasters, artwork. Garnish your cart with a few fun additions and voilà! You’re ready to host, sip, and serve.

Check out these looks worthy for the set of Mad Men. Cheers!
